Since 2006 13 states have adopted a legal cannabis program, already in 2014 Maryland and Minnesota have opened up a program with four more states NY, Ohio, Florida, and Pennsylvania rumored to be on the cusp. In less than 8 years we have seen 13 states come online and this year if these four states to open up the market it would be a record 7 seven states adopting a medical cannabis program. Do I expect all four of these states to pass this legislation, no. If half of the remaining 4 states adopt the legislation we would have 15 states in the last 8 years adopting this legislation. The point I am getting at is that by the end of the year 24-26 states will have a medical cannabis program, representing potential more than half of all U.S. States.
When you look back at alcohol prohibition it took nearly 66 years to completely overturn that legislation and cannabis has already far surpassed that number, 77 years it has been since Henry Anslinger caused the Marijuana Tax Act. The momentum has finally swung the way of the plant. Truth is that is only one way to see it, another way is to see that only 2 states have legalized recreational use and industrial use of hemp still faces restrictions. While the momentum is shifting it could still be another 25 years before America sees a fully free cannabis program. I'm 34 now, I think I might be 60 when that happens and frankly, that is unacceptable to me. By cannabis advocates, enthusiasts, and activists joining the CHA we can unite and use the scientific principles of leverage and momentum to drive this legislation forward. This was a profound video on leverage and momentum I found on YouTube. Enjoy.
